Mykola Tomenko: We will exert every Effort to prevent the Authorities from yielding the Country to Russia
Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the opposition has enough grounds to prevent ratification of the Agreement on the Prolongation of Stay of the Black Sea Fleet in the Territory of Ukraine. M.Tomenko made the above-mentioned statement in the programme at Svoboda radio channel.
Mykola Tomenko dwelled upon the possible action plan of the opposition in case the parliamentary majority ratifies the agreement. He expects that the Constitutional Court will recognize the said Agreement as illegitimate, a newly elected Parliament denouncing it. "Even at present, any student of the law faculty of Kyiv National University will tell you that the Agreement envisages not the prolongation, but a new agreement. Therefore, a special procedure of its enactment shall be observed: from the amendments to the Constitution to the ratification at the referendum", M.Tomenko stated
"I am surprised at the stand of the effective authorities that call for ratifying the Agreement simultaneously with the State Duma. As for me, it means a voluntary and joyful yielding of the country to Russia", M.Tomenko stated.
